Southington Community Garden Rules — 2018 Growing Season

The community gardens are maintained organically. All gardeners must follow these rules to ensure a productive and enjoyable growing season for everyone.

  • All plots must be planted by June 1st or they may be reassigned.
  • Only organic fertilizers and pest controls are permitted. No synthetic chemicals.
  • Gardeners are responsible for maintaining their plots, including weeding and watering.
  • Paths between plots must be kept clear and weed-free.
  • All gardeners are expected to volunteer for at least 2 community workdays per season.
  • No permanent structures may be erected without prior approval.
  • Water conservation is encouraged. Use drip irrigation or water during cooler hours.
  • Harvest only from your own plot unless given permission by the plot owner.
  • The garden is a shared space. Be respectful of other gardeners and their plots.
  • Gardeners assume all liability for their own safety while in the garden.
